CHEMICAL

PEEL

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment that uses a chemical solution to exfoliate and remove the outer layers of dead skin. It helps improve the appearance of fine lines, acne, pigmentation, and uneven texture, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath. Chemical peels are customizable and can be tailored to various skin concerns and depths.

How does a Chemical Peel work?

The chemical solution (usually containing acids like glycolic, lactic, salicylic, or TCA) breaks down the bonds between dead skin cells, encouraging them to shed. This stimulates new cell turnover and collagen production, leading to brighter, more even-toned skin.

What are the types of Chemical Peels?

There are three main types:

  • Superficial/light peels: target the outermost layer and have minimal downtime.
  • Medium peels: penetrate deeper into the dermis and are used for moderate skin concerns.
  • Deep peels: reach the lower dermal layers and are used for severe wrinkles, scars, or pigmentation but require longer recovery.

What areas can be treated?

  • face
  • neck
  • chest
  • back
  • hands

How often is it done?

Frequency depends on the type of peel and skin goals. Light peels can be done every 4–6 weeks, medium peels every 3–6 months, and deep peels usually only once due to their intensity.

How long do the results last?

Results from light peels can last several weeks, while medium peels offer improvements lasting several months. Deep peels can produce long-lasting results, often up to a year or more, especially when combined with good skincare habits.
